- Program
- Ohio Early Childhood Education (ECE) Grant
- Age eligibility
- Four-year-olds (and some three-year-olds where funded) who are not yet eligible for kindergarten.
- Income eligibility
- Family income at or below 200% FPL, with priority to the lowest-income families.
- Provider requirements
- Delivered by school districts, ESCs, community schools, chartered nonpublic schools, and licensed child-care providers; providers must participate in Ohio's quality program (Step Up To Quality) at the state-required rating and employ appropriately credentialed lead teachers.
- Funding
- State-funded per-child grant allocation administered by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY); no parent tuition for grant-funded slots.
- Education department role
- Administration moved from the Ohio Department of Education to the Department of Children and Youth (DCY) in 2023; DCY also owns Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS).
